From the President
2020 is starting strong, as January was another fantastic month of learning at ATDCFL.
First, Niels Floor led a Q&A digital encounter about LXD, or Learning Experience Design. This informative webinar explained the differences between Instructional Design and LXD and how it can easily be applied. We also explored the Pillars of Positive Psychology with Kendra Davies at the HappEness & Employee Well-Being event, shifting our thinking to a growth mindset.
*NEW* ATD Capability Model
ATD has released the brand-new Talent Development Capability Model, a framework which helps practitioners understand what they need to KNOW and DO to develop themselves personally and professionally, as well as their organizations. The model consists of 7 capabilities, including Communication, Emotional Intelligence and Decision-Making, Collaboration and Leadership, Cultural Awareness and Inclusion, Project Management, Compliance and Ethical Behavior and Lifelong Learning. Within each capability are knowledge and skill statements that support the growth goals in each area. ATD’s website also has a self-assessment tool so users can learn where their strengths and deficits lie, so they can improve their skills accordingly. The new Capability Model replaces the ATD Competency Model and is new for this year.
