ATD Competency Model

Both the CPTD® and the APTD® are based upon the ATD Competency Model. The ATD Competency Model redefines the skills and knowledge required for talent development professionals to be successful now and in the future. It captures changes driven by digital, mobile, and social technology; demographic shifts; globalization; and economic forces.

What is the APTD?

CPTD Certification

What is the CPTD?

The Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) is a professional certification for TD professionals with at least five years of experience. It is broad and measures a professional’s knowledge and skill application across the breadth of talent development capabilities. Learn more about the CPTD here.

ReCertification

How do I get recertified?

  • The APTD® and CPTD® credentials are valid for three years.
  • APTDs must earn 40 recertification points and CPTDs must earn 60 recertification points every three years to maintain their credential.
  • Recertification points may be earned through a variety of activities including continuing education on topics outlined in the ATD Capability Model.
  • Recertification policies
