Today's world is increasingly diverse. Those that know how to communicate accurately across cultures have a competitive advantage. In this presentation, we will define and/or examine:

• Culture and co-culture
• Three major levels of diversity
• Five important elements of culture 

Once we have taken a look at the ways in which we may differ from one another, we will then explore how these differences can impact interpersonal communication.  

Finally, we will explore how to incorporate the topic of Intercultural/Diversity Communication in your training programs.

About our Facilitator

Mr. Gino Perrotte is a visiting instructor with UCF’s Nicholson School of Communication. Having earned his MA in Interpersonal Communication from UCF, Mr. Perrotte served as an adjunct instructor for several years. During this time, he has facilitated multiple courses including Fundamentals of Technical Presentation, Oral Communication, Communication and Family, Intercultural Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Attitudes and Communication, and Nonverbal Communication.

In addition to teaching, Mr. Perrotte has had a diverse professional background during his 10 years in Orlando. He began his professional career working with a national real estate management company, traveling around the country as a corporate trainer for customer service and marketing. Mr. Perrotte further diversified his training background by developing the pilot New Employee Orientation program for a local community bank. Mr. Perrotte also has several years of experience in youth sports program management and coaching.

His research interests mainly focus on intercultural communication, Italian studies, gender and identity construction, and hegemony. Mr. Perrotte is an active UCF ALLY and proud supporter of LGBT initiatives at UCF and beyond. His personal hobbies include travel, foreign languages, and Italian culture. He is currently creating and leading a Summer A 2012 Italian study abroad program for UCF entitled, “Applied Intercultural Communication: An Italian Perspective.”

By attending this program you may be able to earn 1.5 (General) HRCI recertification credit hours towards PHR, SPHR, and GPHR recertification through the HR Certificate Institute.

You may also be able to submit for CPLP recertification credit.

We will be doing a 50/50 raffle so don't forget to bring cash! The 50/50 raffle will raise money for our community partner.

 As a friendly reminder, cancellations are due no less than 5 days prior to the program. Pre-Paid registrations will not be refunded after the fifth day and pending confirmations will be invoiced with payment due upon receipt. This policy will remain in effect as an effort to cover catering expense and unsold seating created by holding your reservation. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
