Workforce Human Capital Challenges in the New Decade:

Implications for Organizations and Leaders

August 30th, 2012

5:30pm - 8:45pm

This session will address the perfect storm that is brewing in the 21st Century workplace that includes a confluence of such factors as:

  • an aging society and workforce
  • new workplace dynamics to accommodate a younger generations of workers
  • educational gaps between industry needs and graduating candidates
  • the rapid pace of technology changes
  • an emphasis on leader-employee relationships
  • a rapid change in demographics
  • an increased need for organizations to redefine themselves

Individually, each of these will significantly impact organizations; however, collectively they will have a dramatic impact on the future of all organizations.

Today, there are four generations of workers in the workplace (soon to be five) and diversity is taking center stage. Therefore, a new model of workforce engagement isnecessary. While most organizations continue to adapt and change in order to gain acompetitive advantage, the speed of IT changes continue to accelerate.

This is occurring while U.S. industries face serious recruiting challenges due to a lack of highly educated candidates, the reliance on a more diverse pool of workers, and a workforce spanning several generations each with their own idiosyncrasies. Leadership development has become an imperative for future organizations as they face new human capital challenges.

This session will provide an engaging forum on how leaders will need to reengineer their relationships and practices within their organizations in order to be successful in the future.

The takeaways from this session are:

  • An increased understanding of the workplace challenges occurring now and in the future
  • Knowledge about the workplace implications for the leaders
  • The identification of short and long term actions that leaders should consider in order to add value and better enable their organizations for success
