ISD Bootcamp

If you develop or plan to develop any kind of training, you have probably heard the term ISD. Do you even know what it stands for? What about ADDIE?

We typically create training for adults, so we also need to be aware of Andragogy. How do you decide the types of activities to offer? How do you make sure you address all the styles of learning? How do you verify that what you are creating will actually affect the business goals of your organization? How do you validate that training is actually the solution to the problem?

There’s a lot of theory and processes that go into the design of learning for adults, because we learn differently thank children. Add to that the advent of mobile devices, Web 3.0, blended learning models, and the changes that have occurred in our minds as we engage with online media. It’s enough to make your head spin!

In our eight hour boot camp, we introduce all of these concepts and how to implement them in a real-world environment. We will hold this boot camp in two-hour, hands-on sessions over four days.

This boot camp will also demonstrate the values and use of a “flipped classroom” model.

July 15 – Quick review (30 min) of Analysis & Design, break into 4 groups to design a 10-minute eLearning Presentation/self-directed course to cover one of four Adult Learning Models:

  • Andragogy (Knowles)
  • Bloom’s Taxonomy (Bloom)
  • Learner-Centered (Rogers)
  • Multiple Intelligences (Gardner)

Assignment: Create a story board/outline of your assigned model and how you will present it.

July 22 – Quick review of Development & Implementation (30 min), break into groups to develop the 10-minute presentation/self-directed course and decide how it will be presented (what method of implementation will your team use).

Assignment: Continue working on assignment 2.
