Engaging the Head, Heart and Hands of a Volunteer

 Thursday,  June 25, 2015

5:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Nova Southeastern University
Orlando Campus

Come learn and network with your fellow ATD Central Florida chapter members!

The first 50 Registrants will receive a Complimentary copy of Barry Altland's book, “Engaging the Head, Heart and Hands of a Volunteer.”

Studies indicate that approximately 25% of the U.S. population freely offers their time and talents as a volunteer.  Volunteerism is woven into the fabric of our country from its earliest days.

So many seek and find enrichment through their service.  For all their triumphs, some volunteers have also experienced tragedies . . . times when they were passionate about serving an organization, its cause and beneficiaries, and then something changed.  Instead of finding fulfillment, they lose their passion.  Why does this happen?

Leaders can and do make the difference in engaging the heads, hearts and hands of volunteers.

Acclaimed writer, speaker and expert on leading and engaging volunteers, Barry Altland, will lead the conversation on what it takes to touch the hearts of people who choose to serve.  This interactive workshop will explore the concepts, tips and techniques that feed the passion-fires of volunteers, including the following:
  • What is Otherliness
  • What is the difference between engaging a paid professional and a volunteer?
  • What roles does Discovery play in engaging the passion of a volunteer?
  • What roles does Coaching and recognition play in sustaining the passion of a volunteer?
  • What lessons can be learned from engaging volunteers that apply for talent development professionals?

Join peers from the talent development and nonprofit management professions to explore the learning messages from the book, “Engaging the Head, Heart and Hands of a Volunteer.”  The first 50 registrants will receive a signed copy of the newly released book upon arrival.
