Professional Development Event

“Building Facilitation Skills”

With featured Facilitator, Barry E. Altland, SPHR

Friday, October 22, 2010

Full-day session:  8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

When you participate in a live learning event:

·   are you captivated by a skilled facilitator who is organized, articulate, and holds the attention of the room?

·   do you suddenly realize that the session has flown by so quickly, yet you learned so much?

·   do you find yourself inspired to act, to apply what you have learned, based upon the way a facilitator actively engages you in the learning?

You can be that facilitator!  Outstanding facilitators are made, not born!

The Central Florida Chapter of ASTD presents a full-day workshop that will share the tools, tips and techniques to take any professional to a higher level of facilitation skill.  Whether you:

·   are new to the workplace learning and performance profession,

·   have some WLP experience, but are looking to grow your skill set,

·   are a professional in any role, and you need to add facilitation skills to your repertoire to increase credibility and impart knowledge to others,

. . . you will benefit from participating in this workshop!

The first half of the workshop day will review many commonly-used facilitation techniques, and allow participants to see the tips and tools used in practice as part of the session.  Through a series of interactive discussions, exercises and activities, participants will gain a variety of skills used to create engaging learning events.

Then, participants will be prepared to apply these newly-learned skills to their own facilitation style in the second half of the workshop day.  Each participant will assemble and present a brief facilitation piece, followed by an opportunity to receive targeted, respectful feedback from fellow participants to help them expand their repertoire.

Breakfast, lunch and snacks are included in the workshop cost, as well as all materials used during the day.  This workshop is limited to the first 20 registered participants.

The workshop will “inform, inspire and involve” each participant in becoming a highly effective leader of learning events!
