“Vir-structional Coaches”

Heather Berry

The path to a teaching career was always clearly illuminated for Heather Berry.  Her interest in helping youngsters led to choosing elementary education as her college major.  Her first student teaching internship confirmed the correctness of her choice.  She always had a passion to help.  And teaching was clearly the way to do it. Ms. Berry earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida. Ms. Berry has taught 2nd, 4th and 5th grade and served as her schools math resource teacher.

The choice to teach language arts was also clear.  Much of Ms. Berry’s quiet time is spent with a good book.  Reading about the hopes and challenges of real or fictional characters provides an opportunity to encounter different people, places, and times.  Mrs. Berry earned her middle school LA certification in 2006.  During the 2006-2007 school year, she was chosen as her school’s Teacher of the Year.   Ms. Berry’s decision to join the FLVS faculty was partially prompted by her success with numerous computer programs.  She recognized that effectively used technology can make high quality instruction more readily available to all students.  She also appreciates the opportunity to work one-on-one with her online students in a student-centered learning environment.

Nurlida "Nury" Perez

Nury has a strong passion to share knowledge and ideas. This passion has taken her to teach students from young--in day care, to adults--getting their advance degrees; from traditional brick and mortar to virtual learning and from helping new college students be successful, from recent high school graduates to those pursuing an advance degree. Nury is considered a Subject Matter Expert in various webinar platforms which she uses as tools to continue sharing knowledge and ideas as a Learning Specialist for Florida Virtual School. Nury holds a BS in Special Education, a M.S. in Curriculum Instruction and Assessment and holds a Certificate as a Coach in Co-active Coaching.
