L&D doesn’t own workplace learning. WHAT?!?! Every organization is a complex ecosystem. A multitude of factors influence employee performance and business results. Unfortunately, many L&D teams fail to acknowledge this reality and adopt a holistic approach. Instead, they focus only on their sphere of influence, which usually revolves around formal training. Employees then struggle with mixed messages and contradictory priorities. This stifles employee potential, hinders long-term business growth and brings the value of L&D into question.

In this session, we’ll explore the components of a modern learning ecosystem. We’ll demonstrate how these components can be adjusted to function cohesively, empower employees and enable performance improvement. We’ll map popular L&D tactics, such as eLearning and performance support, to the Modern Learning Ecosystem Framework. We’ll discuss challenges L&D may encounter when trying to evolve their learning ecosystem. You’ll walk away with practical ideas that will help you start shifting your approach to learning so that you can meet the needs of today’s employees.

This session will overview the phases, outputs, tasks and teams for conducting a Curriculum Architecture Design (CAD) effort using a facilitated Group Process with Master Performers and Other Subject Matter Experts as needed, an ISD methodology the speaker has been using since 1981, and has conducted for his clients an ISD consultant 76 times since 1982. Several of his efforts were submitted by his clients and received awards from ISPI and ATD and for internal awards at General Motors and at Siemens Building Technologies.

Working from home is the new reality for many of us. We’re surrounded by distracting technology. Our kids or spouse may need something in the middle of a task. We see a notification and feel pressured to respond immediately.

Does this leave you unfocused, unhappy, and struggling to find time?

Grab a sandwich and join us for this lunch and learn session. We’ll introduce practical tools for focus and provide a hands-on experience for working more productively individually and with your teams and clients.

We’ll start by introducing the neuroscience behind the Caveday methodology for overcoming distraction and pushing past internal resistance. Then we’ll run a short cave “sprint” so you can apply the methodology to a real world task. We’ll finish with a few best practices and tactical tips to maintain and build strong, focused work cultures on remote and hybrid teams.

You will finish this 75-minute session and get some work done!

Session Assignment: Bring a short task (about 10 minutes to complete) and materials to complete it. Example: E-mail response or organizing files.

      Key Takeaways

      • Explore the science behind why it’s so hard to focus and what we can do about it
      • Apply the Caveday methodology to avoid distraction, overcome procrastination, and minimize decision fatigue
      • Discuss ways to keep ourselves, our teams, and our clients motivated when working remotely

Live from New York…it’s author Todd Cherches, here to introduce us to some of the key concepts from his brand new book, VisuaLeadership: Leveraging the Power of Visual Thinking in Leadership and in Life!

How do you get others to “see” what you’re saying? As professionals in the training industry, this is one of our key challenges.

Well, one powerful, and effective, way of doing so is through the use of visual thinking and visual communication techniques…or what Todd calls, VisuaLeadership®. In this fun, fast-paced, highly interactive, and experiential webinar you will learn a variety of ways in which you can enhance your personal and professional effectiveness – as well as the effectiveness of others – by leveraging the power of visual imagery, mental models, metaphor, and visual storytelling.

If, as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, then “Leveraging the Power of Visual Thinking” just may be worth a thousand workshops. And, even if not (as those are extremely high expectations to live up to!), at the very least you are guaranteed to emerge from this fun 90-minute webinar with a valuable mix of creative new tools, tips, and techniques designed to aid you in helping others to maximize performance, productivity, and potential.

For a sneak peek of the speaker and this interesting and innovative topic, feel free to watch Todd’s recent TEDx Talk on “The Power of Visual Thinking”:

This session will overview the outputs and tasks and include some quick practice exercises for learning "How To" conduct a Performance Analysis effort for ISD and Performance Improvement efforts. Performance Analysis identifies the Ideal performance already achieved by current state Master Performers, and a Gap Analysis of non-Master Performers, that then enables systematically deriving the enabling knowledge/skills, as well as other enablers, of ideal Process performance that will feed downstream Instructional Design efforts.
